Our dedicated Prime Brokerage operations staff will ensure that your trades settle correctly in the appropriate timeframe.

Securities Lending

Our Securities Lending desk maintains a deep and reliable pool of securities, which allows our clients to implement their shorting strategies to the fullest extent while maximizing the stability of their ongoing short positions. Our dedicated professionals assist our clients through providing flow and liquidity commentary as well as identifying trends and opportunities in the market place.

Financing

Through innovative financing products CIBC World Markets helps its client base realize their investment goals in accordance with applicable regulatory margin requirements. For clients who qualify, collateral requirements are calculated on the overall portfolio held with CIBC World Markets allowing for the greatest capital efficiency.

Reporting

We understand that timely and accurate information is vital to your organization's efficiency and success. Our sophisticated web-based reporting platform delivers all the trading information you require including profit and loss calculations in a real time format. The flexibility of our reporting framework enables us to create customized reports to suit your specific needs and deliver them to you in a variety of formats.

Execution Services

The Direct Market Access trading group offers an electronic execution capability to route trades electronically to various execution venues (TSX, NADAQ, NYSE, ECN's, etc.) without intervention. This enables the client to have direct control over its executions for reduced commissions. The execution platforms currently supported are Belzberg, GL, Etrade, ITG and Bloomberg.

In addition to the traditional agency desk, clients are provided with access to the portfolio and quantitative trading desk. The latter specializes in algorithmic trading and customizable trading methods. Algorithmic trading can include 'always be on bid/ask', 'always be best bid/ask', customizable VWAP methods, or a combination of these methods with fixed or floating limits. Pair trades can be executed at a given ratio, spread, or combination of the two. Customized reports can be provided based on the client's needs.

Research

CIBC World Markets has a dedicated research team that services our alternative investment and hedge fund clients and complements our Prime Brokerage offering. We have a broad range of research, covering quantitative equity long-short, pairs trading, "stub" trading, index arbitrage, and event-driven alpha-generating arbitrage strategies. The research team publishes regularly and produces a bi-weekly flagship research series, Hedge Fund Insights.
