CIBC World Markets was recognized as a Canadian dealmaker of the year for its key role as exclusive financial advisor to Fortis on its $3.7 billion acquisition of Terasen Inc., the Canadian natural gas distribution arm of Kinder Morgan Inc.
The transaction was recognized as Canada's best deal of the year with Fortis, and as a result, CIBC World Markets and the two law firms engaged in the deal were chosen as the country's top deal team in 2007. The transaction was also selected as the top energy, power and utilities deal of the year.
