Warren Gilman

Managing Director, Head of Asia Pacific Region, CIBC World Markets
Warren Gilman is Managing Director and Head of the Asia Pacific Region at CIBC World Markets.
Mr. Gilman joined CIBC in 1985 and helped launch the firm’s Global Mining group. Over his career with CIBC, Mr. Gilman has advised several leading mining companies and participated in many of the largest mining transactions in Canadian corporate history. Prior to his current position, he was Deputy Chairman of CIBC World Markets Australia, with regional responsibilities for Investment Banking, Merchant Banking, Retail Stock Broking and Asset Securitization.
Before joining CIBC, Mr. Gilman gained extensive experience in gold and base metal mining operations while working as a mining engineer in Canada's high arctic. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from Queen's University and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
Mr. Gilman is a member of the CIBC World Markets Management Committee, and Chairman of CIBC’s Asia Deals Committee. He serves on the Board of Directors of CEF Holdings Ltd., a 50/50 joint venture between CIBC and Cheung Kong (Holdings). His other credits include: Director with the Canada China Business Council; member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, and the Hong Kong Association of Banks; Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers; Director with the F.G.T. Pickard Memorial Scholarship Fund; and Chairman of the Children’s Miracle Foundation (HK) Limited.
